Decanus et Facultas Sacrae Theologiae almae Universitatis Parisiensis, omnibus, ad quos praesens scriptum pervenerit, salutem in eo qui est vera Salus.
The name is derived from the Latin (os) sacrum, (sacer, sacra, sacrum, "sacred"), a translation of the Greek hieron (osteon), meaning sacred or strong bone. Since the sacrum is the seat of the organs of procreation, animal sacrums were offered in sacrifices.
Faculty: power, ability, wealth.
A faculty is a licence to carry out work. Any work carried out in the absence of a faculty is illegal.
It covers all parish churches and those licensed for public worship, that is to say all repairs, alterations or extension to a church building or changes to its contents or churchyard.
