Netanyahu arrest up for debate as UK petition hits target.

A petition on the British Parliament’s website urging the UK to arrest Netanyahu for “war crimes” has received more than 100,000 signatures,
making the matter eligible for debate by lawmakers. The campaign reached its target on Saturday morning.

The petition demands that Netanyahu “be arrested for war crimes upon arrival in the UK for the massacre of over 2,000 civilians in 2014,” a reference to the 51-day war between Israel and Hamas that summer.

UK parliament to consider petition to arrest Netanyahu as it reaches over 100,000 signatures.

The British parliament will consider a petition on its website seeking the arrest of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu for “war crimes” after it reached its target of 100,000 signatures.
“Benjamin Netanyahu is to hold talks in London this September. Under international law he should be arrested for war crimes upon arrival in the UK for the massacre of over 2000 civilians in 2014,” says the petition published by Damian Moran, an anti-Israel activist, on August 7.

Parliament considers all petitions that receive more than 100,000 signatures for a debate.

The government also said that during Operation Protective Edge in 2014 Israel had a right to defend itself by taking proportionate action within the boundaries of the humanitarian law. It also condemned “the terrorist tactics of Hamas who fired rockets on Israel, built extensive tunnels to kidnap and murder, and repeatedly refused to accept ceasefires”.

“The UK is a close friend of Israel and we enjoy an excellent bilateral relationship, built on decades of cooperation between our two countries across a range of fields,” the statement concluded.

However the petition’s organizer himself was skeptical about the possibility of arrest and said his intent was different.

More than 2,000 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces during the 50-day Operation Protective Edge which destroyed much of Gaza.

Lithuania: for Netanyahu, a dream come true
PUBLISHED

With admiration for the Israeli military and the Palestinian issue off the agenda, Lithuania is a dream-come-true for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, himself of Lithuanian descent.

Fearing Russian aggression, Lithuania looks to Israel for help and inspiration. Israel stands to gain, too.

Dėl ko gi tiek pastangų?

Dėl klasikinėj lotynų abėcėlėj nesančios raidės "W".

Britams, pritaikius mūsų 50 tūkstančių parašų normą, derėtų surinkti beveik milijoną parašų:
