Putin invited the Finnish President to go sailing
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinisto held talks in an informal atmosphere on the presidential yacht “Chaika”. 
 
This became known to “Interfax”.

According to the Agency, route, boat trips ran from the port in Sochi to the Marina in the Imereti lowland. On Board the yacht didn’t have an interpreter, the conversation, the President spoke in English.

During the formal part of the negotiations the heads of state discussed the situation in Syria and Ukraine, and missile defense system of NATO. The meeting took place in Putin’s residence Bocharov Ruchei in Sochi and lasted half an hour.

The Russian leader was pleased with the talks with Niinisto and called them “very informative”. “I very much hope that during the Finnish presidency [of the EU] will also be able to do something positive in order to restore the normal state of relations between Russia and the EU”, — said Putin. He reminded that Finland will chair the EU in the second half of 2019.

Earlier, Putin and Niinisto met on July 27, 2017 in the Finnish town of Savonlinna. There the Russian leader arrived at the invitation of his counterpart to the 100th anniversary of Finland’s independence.
