The rain thing in Lithuania is more like a national joke :) and this joke is starting to be not funny. we're kind of drowning here. the warmest winter in recorded history.
visited all three in the summer. wonderful gems of Europe. I have so much appreciation for their cultures and histories. Love to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania from Taiwan!
Given that you mentioned that Riga is called "Paris of the North" , I'd like to point out that pre-WWII Vilnius has the Jewish nickname of "The Jerusalem of Litta" (Litta being Yiddish for Lithuania and surrounding areas), as before the Holocaust, Vilnius had a high Jewish population, which was known for producing a lot of Religious scholars . Also, in that context, Vilnius is still referred to by its Yiddish name, Vilna.
@Carnelian FAN litus is beach in latin, not shore. don't say "false" when you see some minor discrepancies. i had to watch the video again to see what "false" things i have missed.
@Carnelian FAN google vilnia as well. if you don't know this word that's on you. all in all, it wasn't the worst video I have seen. I am not mad at it. Can you point out something else? The only thing that caught my attention and was wrong is that Lithuania has 250 km of coast. I am wondering where they've got that number :D
Name Lithuania (in original language Lietuva) came from slavian word Litua (or Litva) and "nation" from that region Lettow, Lethowini. In first they had no shore/ beach. We get beach just in 19 century. So sorry, our country name have no connection to shore/ beach. But word "Lyti" means "it's raining" (in language we use now).
