Žargonas

Žargonas (pranc. jargon – darkyta kalba) – kurios nors socialinės ar profesinės grupės kalba (socialinis dialektas), kurioje gausu žodžių ar posakių, nederančių su bendrinės kalbos normomis.

Savo esme žargonas yra kalbos registras, vartojamas išskirtinai tam tikroje socialinėje grupėje ir yra skirtas iš komunikacijos proceso pašalinti viską, kas nereikalinga. Juo galima užšifruoti kalbą taip, kad nesusijęs su tam tikra socialine grupe asmuo nesuprastų apie ką šnekama. Jis atlieka grupės narių identifikacinę, tarpusavio atpažinimo funkciją.

The European Union commissioners have announced that agreement has been reached to adopt English as the preferred language for European communications, rather than German, which was the other option. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a five-year phased plan for what will be known as EuroEnglish (Euro for short).
