NATO troops in Ukraine

A U.S. military official says the Pentagon will be deploying a small number of troops to Ukraine to provide medical training to forces there who have been battling Russian-backed separatists.

Between five and 10 service members will go to western Ukraine next week for what will be a second round of coaching and mentoring members of the Ukraine military, who will then go on to become trainers. The official discussed the deployment on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to speak on the record.

The U.S. forces will deploy out of Europe.

Last year, the U.S. trained about 300 Ukrainian troops on battlefield medicine.

Didžiosios Britanijos premjeras Davidas Cameronas antradienį pranešė, kad Londonas kitą mėnesį Ukrainoje dislokuos karių, padėsiančių apmokyti Kijevo kariuomenę, praneša AP.

„Per kitą mėnesį mes ketiname dislokuoti britų karių, teiksiančių patarimų ir apmokymų nuo taktinės žvalgybos iki logistikos ir medicinos priežiūros“, – parlamente įstatymų leidėjų komitetui sakė D. Kameronas.

„Mes taip pat plėtosime pėstininkų apmokymų programą su Ukraina, siekdami pagerinti jų pajėgų patvarumą“, – pridūrė Britanijos premjeras.

„Jie bus toli nuo konflikto zonos, bet manau, kaip tik taip mes turėtume jiems padėti“, – sakė D.Cameronas ir pakartojo, kad Didžioji Britanija neteiks Ukrainai letalios įrangos.

Gynybos ministras, atskirai, patvirtino, kad į Ukrainą šešiems mėnesiams ketinama pasiųsti 75 kariškius.

(Reuters) - Poland intends to send military instructors to train Ukrainian soldiers, with the final decision expected next month, an advisor to the Polish defence minister said.

"The defence ministry intends to send Polish instructors to support the training of Ukrainian non-commissioned officers," Boguslaw Pacek told Reuters.

He said the number of instructors sent will be finalised in March, but will be in the range of around a dozen to several dozens.
