90-tasis YIVO jubiliejus

Jidiš kalbos motina.

Jubiliejus...

YIVO (Yiddish: ייִוואָ), established in 1925 in Wilno, Poland (now Vilnius, Lithuania) as the Yidisher Visnshaftlekher Institut (Yiddish: ייִדישער װיסנשאַפֿטלעכער אינסטיטוט, Yiddish Scientific Institute[1]), is an organization that preserves, studies, and teaches the cultural history of Jewish life throughout Eastern Europe, Germany and Russia, as well as orthography, lexicography, and other studies related to the Yiddish language. (The word yidisher means both "Yiddish" and "Jewish".) The English name of the organization was changed to the Institute for Jewish Research subsequent to its relocation to New York City, although it is still primarily known by its Yiddish acronym. YIVO is now a member of the Center for Jewish History.

YIVO was initially proposed by Yiddish linguist and writer Nochum Shtif (1879–1933). He characterized his advocacy of Yiddish as "realistic" Jewish nationalism, contrasted to the "visionary" Hebraists and the "self-hating" assimilationists who adopted Russian or Polish.

Founded at a Berlin conference in 1925, but headquartered in Wilno – a city then in Eastern Poland with a large Jewish population – the early YIVO also had branches in Berlin, Warsaw and New York City.

When in 1925?

В августе 1925 года литературовед Нохем Штиф организовал институт, целью которого являлась пропаганда идиша как одного из элементов еврейского национального движения.

On 7–12 August 1925, nine delegates from Western and Eastern Europe met at a conference in Berlin. They created an organizational committee to oversee the work of the institute, consisting of Shtif and Tsherikover in Berlin and Weinreich and Reyzen in Vilna, and also established four academic sections as proposed by Shtif.

Rugsėjis dabar, nebe rugpjūtis.

Tai kodėl YIVO 90-metis pradėtas minėti 2015-09-17?
Šiandien Lietuvoje prasideda renginiai, skirti YIVO 90-osioms metinėms ir Lietuvos žydų genocido aukų dienai paminėti...

Lietuvos žydų genocido aukų dieną Lietuvos Respublikos Aukščiausiosios Tarybos Prezidiumo Įsaku rugsėjo 23-iąją mums prieš 25 metus įtaisė - kas toks?
Kas dabar Baltų Vienybės, Saulės mūšio, dieną vyksta Seime?
Ir ne tik Seime.

Pavyzdžiui, rugsėjo 22 d., antradienį, Lietuvos žydų genocido atminimo dienos išvakarėse, kelių Lietuvos miestų bei miestelių viešosiose erdvėse bus skaitomi Holokausto aukų vardai.
