Land Of The Wolves

Georgia is described as Land of The Wolves on the map published by the Culture Trip. The Culture Trip is a start-up inspiring millions of people to explore the world's culture and creativity.

The name of the country ‘Georgia’ is believed to originate from the Persian word “gorg” which means ‘land of wolves’. The history of Georgia goes back at least 3500 years and Christianity (the state religion) was adopted 2000 years ago.

Vakhtang I of Iberia (the 5-6th century) is referred to as Vakhtang I Gorgasali.
The title includes the same Persian world “gorg” and “sali” (Armenian) or “sari” (Persian) together translated as “wolf-head”.
